Wild Scottish Sauna

Indulge in some sauna time

Did you know that archaeologists have discovered one of the world's oldest saunas here in Scotland?

Clearly, our ancestors had their priorities in order. There's nothing quite like kicking back in a sauna and letting the steam melt your worries away.

You'll find one of Scotland's best saunas right here at Forbes of Kingennie. It's called the Wild Scottish Sauna – and it keeps things gloriously simple.

Step inside and you'll feel the difference immediately. Wild, natural, wood-fired heat – the kind that hits you like a tropical sunbeam and bathes your body like warm honey. It's pure bliss.

Then, when you're thoroughly heated through, you can give your senses a wake-up call by plunging into our stream-fed freshwater loch. It's chilly, sure. But you've never felt refreshment quite like it.

Looking for Father's Day activity ideas for a busy, stressed-out dad? Here's your eureka moment.

Explore the beautiful countryside

If you're a Dundonian, you'll already know the score. Dundee and Angus boast some of the most gorgeous scenery in all of Scotland.

However, life gets in the way. It's all too easy to let beauty pass you by when you're busy.

So, this Father's Day, why not make time to get out there and explore what our county has to offer?

There's a world of rural splendour waiting for you. Three mighty Munros, including the twin peaks of Mayar and Driesh. The Angus Glens, which sweep through the Cairngorms National Park and dish up some of the UK's most scenic driving routes. And, of course, the famous Angus coast, with its parade of rugged, rock-fringed beaches.

Oh, and if you're new to the area, get ready to introduce your jaw to the floor. You haven't truly experienced Scotland until you've experienced this.

Play a round of golf

Is your old man a keen golfer? You can stop searching for Father's Day activity ideas right now. See, Dundee is home to some of the most scenic golf courses in Scotland.

Take our own Kingennie Golf Course. Surrounded by the rolling Angus countryside yet easily accessible from Dundee city centre, it offers the perfect excuse for a swing and an amble. As you putt your way from hole to hole, you'll enjoy stunning views over the Tay Estuary towards Fife.

Short on time? Kingennie is a nine-hole course, so you can be done, dusted and back in the clubhouse within about an hour and a half. Bonus.

We'd be remiss if we didn't mention some of the other world-class courses in Dundee. Carnoustie Golf Links, Montrose Golf Links and The St Andrews Golf Club are all within easy driving distance of our resort. How about a wee golfing holiday?

Check out some live music

Dundee has a proud musical heritage. Indie rockers The View, synth-poppers The Associates and the million-selling Average White Band all hail from our pretty little corner of Caledonia.

Today, the local scene is as healthy as it's ever been. That's good news for music-loving dads – as well as grown-up kids looking for Father's Day activity ideas.

This year, you can pick from a trio of dad-friendly concerts, all scheduled for Saturday 14 June – the night before Father's Day.

First up: Martin Kemp at LiveHouse. This nostalgia-soaked evening will see the musician-turned-actor perform some of the biggest hits of the 1980s. Expect chart toppers from the likes of Duran Duran, George Michael and Culture Club, as well as Kemp's own Spandau Ballet.

Fancy something a little fresher? Head to Church Dundee to catch Ben Walker, one of Scotland's brightest rising stars. Walker's brand of anthemic, folk-tinged rock has already won him a devoted fanbase. Here's your chance to see him before he hits the big time.

Finally, Caird Hall is hosting Some Guys Have All the Luck – an all-singing, all-dancing tribute to rock legend Rod Stewart. The show promises plenty of singalong hits, as well as swaggering showmanship and a host of costume changes (of course).

Plus, we're hosting a live music event in the Cairn O' Mount Bar on Saturday 14th June – and you're invited to join us!

Treat his taste buds

Still stuck for ideas? Here's one that never fails: a good old-fashioned evening meal.

You'll find enough restaurants in Dundee and Angus to feed an army of dads. That includes fine-dining favourites like Collinsons and Oshibori, plus plenty of hidden gems and good old-fashioned pubs.

And let's not forget our own Cairn O'Mount Bar and The Scullery – two refreshingly welcoming restaurants set in the heart of our country resort.

The Scullery is all about refined flavours and stunning waterside views. Cairn O'Mount Bar, meanwhile, dishes up hearty, down-to-earth dishes in a relaxed pub setting. Both are beloved of local foodies thanks to their focus on honest Scottish cooking and high-quality local produce.

In a word: yum.
